Is Silver Fibre Safe?
Silver is widely used today in medical products and in consumer products. In fact, the very first drug most people receive when they are born is a silver nitrate, in the form of eye drops. Today, silver is used in everything from burn care products for infection control to eating utensils. Our products are extremely safe because they are made with pure silver fibre. Prestigious institutions throughout the world have validated the antimicrobial performance and safety of Silver in published medical journals.

How long does the Silver Protection last?
The silver fibre will last for the life of the garment. Silver is permanently and irreversibly bound to the surface of a fibre. It cannot be wash off or indeed wear off. We have tested the Silver fibre for more than 250 washes with no reduction in medical performance.
(Note: most domestic garments we all regularly use are cleaned less than 100 washes!)

Are some people allergic to silver?
Some people are allergic to silver jewellery and make the assumption that they are allergic to silver. On the contrary silver jewellery can be made of an alloy called sterling silver and the allergic reactions come from to the various other metals included in sterling silver. Our products are made with pure silver fibre. To date there have been no documented cases of allergies to pure silver.

What kind of testing has been performed?
Silver fibre is a registered product with the EPA and has more than 14 years of published clinical research supporting its safety and claims. Silver fibre is also used for many Class 1 and Class 2 FDA approved medical devices.
The top medical institutions in the world, including Johnson and Johnson, Johns Hopkins and the National Institute of Health, have tested and approved and currently use Silver fibre. Further tests have been conducted in Germany by TUV-Rheinland (ESD safety) and the German Textile Institute Thueringen-Vogtland as well as the Menopause Clinic of the University of Osnabrueck, a leading institute on the research and therapy of occupational skin diseases.

Should I be nervous about using an antimicrobial?
Yes, if it is not pure natural silver fibre because this is not like any other antimicrobial products. Firstly silver fibre is natural and there is no fear of toxicity or added chemicals. Second, silver fibre has all the requisite regulatory approvals. Third, silver fibre is not just an antimicrobial, it also happens to be the best antimicrobial product, but it also has many other valuable medical attributes.
